Folklore exchange and book release program completed

November 26, 2078, Kathmandu. Hon'ble Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has expressed concern over the encroachment on the original language, art and culture and drew the attention of the concerned parties to safeguard it. Inaugurating the 10th conference of the council jointly organized by Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan, Department of Literature (Folklore and Children's Literature) and Folklore Council, Nepal and 'Folklore Discussion and Book Release Program', he urged to pass it on to future generations by preserving and promoting original culture. "Our original language, culture and art are being encroached upon. We are unknowingly encroaching on this. Do we think that if we don't have our original language, if we don't have our art and culture, we will have our identity? ”He said,“ Geography alone cannot be our identity. Nation is not just geography. I urge you to preserve our original language, art, culture and traditions. Let's promote. And, let's pass it on to future generations. ”
On the occasion, Vice President Pun released Pragya-Pratishthan, Department of Folklore, 'Folklore and Stories of Gorkhali Prisoners of War', and 'Various Forms of Nepali Folklore', and Parts 7, 8 and 9 of 'Nepali Folklore' published by the Council.

The Chancellor of Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan, Ganga Prasad Upreti, said that Nepal has many geographical, linguistic and cultural diversity and expressed the view that Nepal can be known only if it is known correctly. He said, “Folklore is a unique identity of Nepal. It is an important genre of Nepali literature. For this reason, Pragya-Pratishthan has been working for the overall development of folklore by creating a department of folklore.”

Pragya-Pratishthan, Sahitya (Folklore and Children's Literature) Department Devi Nepal highlighted the objective of the program with welcome remarks. On the occasion, he informed about the progress made by the Department of Folklore for the upliftment of Nepali folklore. President of Lokvarta Parishad, Nepal and Chairman of the program Prof. Dr. Prem Khatri spoke about the work being done by the council for the study, research, protection and promotion of the field related to Nepali folklore.


Vice President Pun was honored by the council at the event. Honorary Certificate Council President Prof.Dr. Khatri had offered. On the occasion, the council also met social worker and folklore engineer Bamkumari Budhamgar and Dr. Rajyashree Shrestha was honored. Vice President Pun presented letters of commendation to Budhamagar and Shrestha. Yagya Raj Upadhyaya, vice-chairman of the council, gave a brief introduction about the activities of the council and the released works. Respected personality Budhamagar also spoke on the occasion. 

Program Vice-Chancellor of Pragya-Pratishthan Dr. Jagman Gurung, Member Secretary Pvt. Jagat Prasad Upadhyay, Prajna Parishad members Pvt. Dineshraj Pant, P.D. Yogendra Prasad Yadav, P.D. Hemnath Poudel, Maya Thakuri, P.D. Gopindra Poudel and Laxmi Mali were present. The general secretary of the steering council of the program, Dr. Bhakta Rai did it. After the inauguration of the program, working papers related to folklore were presented.
