January 8, 2076, Kathmandu. The government has started the process of making the house of the great poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota with Maiti Devi (Kavikunj) a museum. This was discussed by the speakers at a program on 'Contribution of Bal Krishna Sam in Nepali Poetry' organized by Nepal Pragya Pratisthan and Nepali Education Council at Pragya Bhawan on the occasion of Sam's 118th birth anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganga Prasad Upreti, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan, said that the Pragya-Pratishthan wanted to turn the residence of Sam at Gyaneshwar in Kathmandu into a museum. "Pragya-Pratishthan is ready to turn Sam's house into a museum if Samka's family gives permission," he said. "We will immediately make a proposal to the government and hold discussions with Samaka's family." He informed that the process of setting up a collective museum of eminent authors who have made special contribution in the field of Nepali literature has also been taken forward in the Pragya-Pratishthan.


Pragya-Pratishthanaka Member Secretary Pvt. Jagat Prasad Upadhyaya said that even though he was born in the Rana clan, Sam raised his voice in favor of equality and justice through literary creation, acting in plays and painting. "Sam has made a special contribution to the growth of Nepali language and literature through drama and verse poetry," he said.
Head of Poetry Department of Pragya-Pratishthan Prof.Dr. Hemnath Poudel said that he is not only strong in the genre of drama and poetry but also in the genre of essay. He mentioned that he was a cohesive thinker, philosopher and ideological creator.
P.D. Speaking on the topic 'Contribution of Bal Krishna Sam to Nepali Poetry', Devi Prasad Subedi said that even though Sam was called the Natya Samrat, his main genre was poetry. He said, “Sam continued the genre of poetry till the last hour of his life. His personality is basically that of a poet. ”
Member Secretary of the Nepali Education Council, Pragya Rama Sharma, said that the council was ready to provide necessary assistance to turn Sam's residence into a museum. He said, “Samji taught me at the postgraduate level. Sam was a multi-talented personality. He has a special contribution to the nation. The nation should not delay in doing what is necessary to honor his contribution. ”
Prior to the program, the patriarch, member secretaries, scholars and distinguished creators laid wreaths at the statue of Sam at Kamalpokhari and Pragya premises. The program was facilitated by Buddhi Timalsina.
